Cosmetic composition refill
Technical area
The present invention relates to cosmetic hair product refills, for devices for treating the hair, and more particularly, but not exclusively, those for devices for shaping the hair, in particular intended for straightening, curling or embossing the hair.
The invention also relates to devices provided with such a refill and to methods of treating the hair.
Technological background
Usually, hair straighteners consist of two arms connected to each other by means of a hinge which allows the opening and closing of the latter and by at least one heating element placed on the arms. During styling operations on a lock of hair, the latter is introduced between the two arms in the open position, then the two arms are closed manually on the lock of hair. The latter is then subjected, until the opening of the two arms and the extraction of the lock of hair, to the heat emitted by the heating element.
Some straighteners also allow the application of a cosmetic product on hair fibers.
This is the case, for example, of international application WO 2009/078046, which describes a styling device comprising two arms connected together to allow the opening and closing of the device, at least one heating member and at least one home of a hair treatment device, the latter allowing the distribution, in operation, of a hair product. The hair treatment device comprises a support material impregnated with a hair product and suitable for single use.
WO 2009/015027 and US 2009/0025247 also disclose a hair straightening device, allowing the application of a hair product by contact with the hair. The hair product to be applied is contained in a removable refill allowing its application. This comprises a reservoir containing the hair product in gelled form and dispensing and application orifices for the product, produced directly through a wall of the reservoir. The refill is introduced into a housing arranged on one of the two arms of the hair straightener, by sliding.
It is also known from application WO 2013/045331 an applicator for applying a hair care substance, comprising a cartridge of care substance received in a housing of the applicator. The cartridge has a porous support soaked in the care substance.
Application WO 2013/090896 relates to a hair treatment apparatus, in particular for styling, comprising a treatment agent support, in particular a soaked porous material, to be applied to the hair or the skin. The support is fixed to an accessory, itself removably mounted on a hair treatment device. The support has a T-shape allowing it to be mounted in a groove complementary to the accessory.
Application WO 2013/045331 also describes a care product applicator for applying a care product to the hair and a care product cartridge intended for use in such an applicator.
There is a need to further refine hair product refills and devices allowing the application of a hair product in order to ensure an adequate application of cosmetic product, whether the refills are single-use or multi-use.
In particular, the invention aims to provide a cosmetic refill with improved filling allowing the efficient, homogeneous and reproducible delivery of a cosmetic composition intended for the treatment of hair, with a greater tolerance with regard to the storage conditions, in particular of temperature, recharge before treatment.
Summary of the invention
Cosmetic composition refill
The present invention thus relates, according to a first of its aspects, to a refill of cosmetic composition for a device for treating the hair, comprising an application member initially imbibed with liquid cosmetic composition and having an application surface for the composition intended for be brought into contact with a lock of hair during treatment, and:
- when the mass quantity of liquid cosmetic composition initially contained in the refill is greater than 4 g, a discontinuous distribution of the cosmetic composition on the application surface before the first use, with less than 90% of the application surface occupied by composition before first use, or
- when the mass quantity of liquid cosmetic composition initially contained in the refill is less than or equal to 4 g, a continuous distribution of the composition on the application surface before use with more than 90% of the application surface occupied by the composition before use.
Thanks to the invention, it has been observed that, despite conditions for storing the refill for up to two months at 45 ° C., satisfactory stability and homogeneity of distribution over the hair are obtained during use.
"Continuous distribution of the composition on the application surface" means a uniform presence on the application surface before using the refill.
“Discontinuous distribution of the composition on the application surface” means a discreet presence on the application surface before using the refill; in particular, the application surface may include areas, not interconnected, where the composition is present, separated from areas where the composition is absent. The distribution of the composition is advantageously regular, that is to say that the zones with composition are identical to each other and evenly distributed over the application surface.
The percentage indicated above which is less than 90% for a refill initially containing more than 4 g of composition and which is greater than 90% for a refill initially containing less than 4g or 4g of composition.
The cosmetic composition is a hair cosmetic product applied in liquid form. The term “hair cosmetic product” denotes a composition comprising one or more active agents for hair use and in particular a product as defined in EC directive 93/35 of June 14, 1993. Water in liquid or gaseous form which contains no additives for hair use does not constitute a cosmetic product within the meaning of the present invention. The cosmetic product may be intended to facilitate the shaping of the hair. Examples of active agents are given for example in the publication US 2010/0307528 A1 in paragraphs [0031] and [0032]. The product is preferably anhydrous. The product is preferably oily based.
When the mass quantity of initial liquid cosmetic composition is greater than 4 g, the refill is multi-use, that is to say that can be used for at least two applications by a user. In this case, the flow rate of composition on paper is preferably between 0.07 g / m and 0.9 g / m over a length corresponding to at least two applications, on the basis of 30 passes per application. The flow measurement protocol is described below.
When the mass quantity of initial liquid cosmetic composition is less than or equal to 4 g, the refill is single-use, which can be used only for one application, on the basis of 30 passes of the refill on the hair. In this case, the flow rate of composition on paper is preferably between 0.07 g / m and 0.59 g / m over the length corresponding to an application, on the basis of 30 passages for this application.
Thanks to the invention, whether the refill is of the single-use or multi-use type, the inventors have determined, using numerous tests, that the refill according to the invention allows a delivery of cosmetic composition to the hair which is efficient, homogeneous, reproducible, with a wide tolerance for the preconditions of storage of the refill before treatment, in particular the duration of storage, the positioning of the refill during storage and the storage temperature. In particular, the composition remains sufficiently stable and homogeneous within the refill for two months at 45 ° C.
The applicator member is preferably entirely porous.
The applicator body is in particular made of felt. In the latter case, the fibers of the felt can all be oriented substantially in the same direction, the fibers preferably being oriented perpendicular to the surface of the lock of hair to be treated or parallel to a longitudinal direction of the applicator member.
The density of the applicator member is for example greater than 0.11 g / cm 3 and less than 0.250 g / cm 3 .
The applicator member may have an elongated shape, of rectangular or cross section, with one end forming the application surface intended to be in contact with the hair to be treated. The application surface is preferably flat.
The application surface may have a rectangular shape. The application surface may have a larger dimension, in particular a length, between 50 mm and 150 mm and a smaller dimension, in particular a width, between mm and 30 mm. The applicator member may be parallelepiped. The dimensions of the applicator member are for example 8 mm x 20 mm x 90 mm, the application surface having dimensions of 8 mm x 90 mm.
The applicator member is preferably at least partially, better totally, made of polyethylene, polypropylene, or a mixture of polyethylene and polypropylene, the mixture preferably comprising by mass between 45 and 55% of polyethylene and 55 and 45 % of polypropylene, in particular 50% of polyethylene and 50% of polypropylene.
The cosmetic composition at least partially soaking the application member is advantageously an anhydrous composition, the viscosity of which can be between 100 centipoises and 600 centipoises, preferably between 100 centipoises and 500 centipoises, better still between 100 centipoises and 120 centipoises, even between 100 centipoises and 115 centipoises. The viscosity of the composition is measured at a pressure of 1013.25 hPa, at a temperature of 22 ° C and at a shear rate of 1 s' 1 . The viscosity can be measured using a cone / plane viscometer, in particular using a Haake R600 rheometer or a similar device.
By anhydrous composition is meant here a composition containing less than 5% by mass of water, and more preferably less than 1% by mass of water, relative to the total mass of the composition. Preferably, the anhydrous composition does not contain any water added during the preparation of the composition, the only water present coming from the residual water provided by the mixed ingredients. Even more preferably, the anhydrous composition is free of water.
The cosmetic composition, when it consists of an anhydrous composition, advantageously comprises one or more natural or synthetic oils.
Natural oils can be chosen from mineral oils and vegetable oils. The mineral oils can be chosen from mixtures of petroleum-based hydrocarbon oils, paraffin oil, volatile or non-volatile, petroleum jelly oil, polyolefins. The natural oils can be chosen from vegetable oils, preferably chosen from vegetable triglyceride oils.
The synthetic oils can be chosen from silicone oils, preferably from linear, branched or cyclic silicone oils, volatile or not, optionally organomodified. By silicone is meant compounds comprising one or more silicon atoms in their structure.
The cosmetic composition, when anhydrous, may comprise one or more silicone oils, preferably in a content of between 0.05% and 99.9% by mass relative to the total mass of the composition.
When it is anhydrous and comprises at least one oil, the cosmetic composition advantageously comprises one or more oils in a content ranging from 1% to 100%, preferably from 5% to 99%, more preferably from 10% to 99% better from 25% to 99% and better still from 50% to 99% by mass relative to the total mass of the composition.
The cosmetic composition can also comprise one or more ingredients chosen from natural or synthetic waxes, cationic, nonionic, anionic or amphoteric non-silicone polymers, anti-UV filters, dyes, surfactants, pigments, preservatives and perfumes. .
The applicator member can be soaked in cosmetic composition with an initial filling rate less than or equal to 90% and / or more than 30%.
By "initial filling rate" is meant the ratio between the volume occupied by the composition after filling, in particular by absorption or injection with a needle, and before use of the refill, and the total volume of the applicator member .
The refill can comprise a body delimiting a cavity formed at least partially by two opposite walls and a bottom, and opening towards the outside by an opening, the applicator member being partially received in the cavity and extending in part outside the cavity, through the opening.

Detailed description of embodiments of the invention
In the following description, identical elements or identical functions bear the same reference sign. For the sake of brevity of this description, they are not described with reference to each of the figures, only the differences between the embodiments being described.
FIGS. 1 and 2 show a handpiece 2 of an example of a hair treatment device 1.
This handpiece 2 has two jaws 3 and 4 movable relative to each other between a spaced apart configuration (not shown) for introducing a strand of hair between them and a close configuration, represented in FIG. 1 , treatment of the lock of hair.
The jaws 3 and 4 are carried by respective upper 5 and lower 6 arms, which are, in the example considered, connected to one end by an articulation 8, the handpiece 2 thus forming a clamp.
The upper 5 and lower 6 arms each preferably have a total length of between 22 cm and 37 cm and define, between the joint 8 and the jaws 3 and 4, respective half-handles 10 and 11 on which the user can press to bring jaws 3 and 4 closer.
An elastic return member (not visible) is preferably provided to return the jaws 3 and 4 in a separated configuration, this elastic return member being for example a spring arranged around an axis of the articulation 8.
The invention is not limited to a particular way of connecting the upper 5 and lower 6 arms together and the jaws 3 and 4 can be made mobile otherwise without departing from the scope of the present invention. However, the presence of a joint is widely preferred for the ergonomics it brings.
The jaws 3 and 4 define between them a zone for treating the hair, intended to receive a lock of hair to be treated, along which the handpiece 2 is moved during the treatment, for example in the direction from the root towards the tip of the hair.
In the example considered, the handpiece 2 is configured to apply a cosmetic composition, to treat the hair with steam, then to perform a heat treatment of the hair by contact with two hot surfaces of heating elements 15 and 16. , carried respectively by the upper arm 5 and the lower arm 6.
The direction D of movement of the handpiece 2 on the hair, illustrated in FIG. 1 or 2, is preferably substantially perpendicular to the upper 5 and lower 6 arms and to the longitudinal axis of the device.
The handpiece 2 is connected by a cord 18, in the example considered, to a base station (not shown), fixed during the treatment, connected to the mains.
This base station ensures the electrical supply of the handpiece 2 as well as its supply of water for the generation of steam and can also perform ancillary functions for processing electrical signals received from the handpiece 2. The cord 18 which connects the handpiece 2 to the base station can thus comprise various electrical conductors and a water supply pipe.
A user interface, not shown in the figures, may be present on the handpiece 2 to allow the user for example to switch on or not certain components of it.
The cosmetic product is applied by a refill 20 carried by one of the two arms, 5 or 6, here the upper arm 5, which comes into contact with a pressing element 21. The latter can be removable.
The refill 20 comprises a body 23 and an applicator member 26 arranged so as to come into contact with the hair extending through the treatment zone.
The refill 20 can be fixed on the arm 5 or 6 by any means, in particular, as illustrated in FIG. 2, by sliding a rib of the body 23 in a groove of complementary shape.
As illustrated in FIG. 2, the body 23 has a cavity 30 opening towards the outside through an opening 31 into which is inserted, along an insertion axis X, the applicator member 26 during manufacture of the recharge. More specifically, the cavity 30 is formed at least partially by two opposite side walls 34, 36, parallel to the longitudinal axis of the device, and a bottom 37 of the body 23. The applicator member 26 is partially received in the cavity 30 and extends partly out of the latter, through the opening 31. The body 23 may include attachment reliefs extending in the cavity 30.
The body 23 has a substantially elongated shape along the longitudinal axis of the device. In cross section, the body 23 has, as illustrated in FIG. 2, a U-shape.
As illustrated in FIG. 2, the applicator member 26 can be in the shape of a rectangular parallelepiped. The applicator member 26 then has an application surface 35 intended to be in contact with the hair to be treated, which is substantially flat. The dimensions of the applicator member 26 are for example 8 mm x 20 mm x 90 mm, the application surface 35 intended to be in contact with the hair having the dimensions 8 mm x 90 mm.
In the example illustrated, the applicator member 26 is porous. It comprises, for example, a mixture of 50% polyethylene and 50% polypropylene.
The material constituting the applicator member 26 is, in this embodiment, a felt. The fibers of the felt can be oriented parallel to the surface of the lock of hair to be treated, the fibers preferably being oriented substantially in a longitudinal direction of the applicator member, perpendicular to the direction D passing through the hair. According to a variant, the fibers of the felt of the applicator member are oriented perpendicular to the surface of the lock of hair to be treated, therefore perpendicular to the direction D and to the longitudinal direction of the applicator member 26.

Fifth sample
Is shown in isolation in Figures 7A and 7B an example of an applicator member 26, which can be used in the refill 20, in the hair treatment device 1. This is the fifth sample E5.

In this embodiment, the initial mass quantity, before use, of cosmetic composition C is 7.7 g.
The initial absorption rate of cosmetic composition C in the application organ is 70%. The initial occupancy rate of the application surface 35 by the cosmetic composition C, as visible in FIG. 7B, is 50%. The distribution of the cosmetic composition C on the application surface is discontinuous, the cosmetic composition C being represented in FIGS. 7A and 7B by hatching.
For all the samples, the application members are of rectangular shape, with fibers oriented substantially in a longitudinal direction of the application member, parallel to the surface on which the cosmetic composition is applied. They are made of felt comprising a mixture of 50% polyethylene and 50% polypropylene.
For the first, fourth and fifth samples, in order to introduce the cosmetic composition C into the application member 26, a usual method of injection of the composition was implemented in the factory using needles inserted into the material.
For the second and third samples, the applicator was installed in a composition which it absorbed. The right amount of composition was required, especially to impregnate the applicator of the third sample at 70%.
By "initial amount" is meant the amount of cosmetic composition present in the application member or on the application surface before use, that is to say before the first pass on the hair to be treated.
By “absorption rate of cosmetic composition in the applicator member”, is meant the ratio between the mass of cosmetic composition actually present in the applicator member and the maximum composition mass that the organ can absorb. application, that is to say which can soak the application member. This absorption rate is measured at atmospheric pressure of 1.01325 * 10 5 Pa and at a temperature of 22 ° C.
“Initial occupancy rate by the cosmetic composition of the application surface” means the ratio between the surface of cosmetic composition actually present at the application surface and the total surface of the application surface before use, that is to say before the first pass on the hair to be treated.
The test to which the different application bodies are subjected consists of:
- store application devices according to the five samples tested under all or part of the following different conditions: 0 months at 25 ° C room temperature, 0.5 months at 45 ° C temperature, 1 month at 25 ° room temperature C, 2 months at a temperature of 45 ° C and 2 months at an ambient temperature of 25 ° C, and for any sample tested, the applicator member being positioned with the application surface arranged downward or upward;
- for each of the samples stored under the conditions listed above, carry out the flow measurement protocol, that is to say: carry out fifteen passages of 15 seconds each, from the application member, placed on the treatment device, on 80g / m 2 paper strips from the manufacturer Clairefontaine, each strip measuring 27 cm long and 10.5 cm wide, a force of 35 N +/- 2 being applied to the device treatment, in the direction of the paper strip, so as to deliver a quantity of cosmetic composition to the fifteen strips. The flow rate of cosmetic composition C can be measured every five passages, for example by weighing the applicator member every five passages.
It is important to note that the strips must be soaked over their entire length. In other words, the applicator member is moved on the strip with a speed of about 1.8 cm / s.
The result obtained for the first sample has been illustrated in FIG. 8. The result obtained for the first, second, third, fourth and fifth samples, respectively E1, E2, E3, E4 and E5, has been represented in FIG. 10.
For the first sample E1, 100 passages similar to those described above were also carried out on paper strips, with weighing of the applicator member every five passages. The resulting graph has been illustrated in Figure 9.
In Figure 8, we observe two graphs, denoted E1B and E1H. The E1B graph was obtained after storage of the application member with the application surface facing downwards, while the E1H graph was obtained after storage of the application member with the application surface directed downwards to the top.
On each of these graphs and also on the graphs of Figures 9 and 10, the abscissa axis consists of the number of passages //, while the ordinate axis consists of the mass flow rate g of the composition, this is ie the amount of cosmetic composition deposited on the paper strip according to the protocol specified above. It is thus possible to read, on these graphs of FIGS. 8 to 10, the mass flow rate of the cosmetic composition C as a function of the number of passages carried out.
On each of these graphs:
- curve a corresponds to measurements made at 0 months of storage at room temperature;
- curve b corresponds to measurements made after 0.5 months of storage at a temperature of 45 ° C;
- curve c corresponds to measurements made after 1 month of storage at a temperature of 45 ° C;
- curve d corresponds to measurements made after 1 month of storage at room temperature;
- curve e corresponds to measurements made after 2 months of storage at a temperature of 45 ° C; and
- curve f corresponds to measurements made after 2 months of storage at room temperature.
The simple dotted curves h and z delimit between them the zone Z of acceptability measured in vivo. If the aaf curves are essentially in this zone Z, then, despite the different storage conditions, it can be considered that the distribution of cosmetic composition is stable and homogeneous.
Thus, it can be seen that the first, fourth and fifth samples corresponding respectively to the graphs E1B, E1H, E4B, E4H and E5B, E5H satisfy this criterion. Indeed, by looking at the curves on these graphs, we see that most of the curves are in the zone Z, between the curves Zl and Z2.
However, with regard to the second and third samples, corresponding respectively to the graphs E2B, E2H, E3B and E3H, these do not satisfy the criterion according to which the curves aaf are essentially in the zone Z of acceptability. They are therefore not acceptable for the desired stability.
The first and fourth samples correspond to a monousage refill, the initial amount of cosmetic composition C being less than 4 g.
The fifth sample corresponds to a multi-use refill, allowing at least two uses, the initial amount of cosmetic composition C being greater than 4g17
On the graph of FIG. 9, we see the curve illustrating the number of possible passages with the applicator member according to the first sample. After about 30 passes, use was made. However, when the flow rate is less than 0.07 g / cm 3 , the quantity of composition deposited is insufficient. This is why FIG. 9 illustrates the fact that only one use can be made, that is to say about 30 passages with the first sample.
It has thus been observed that, for a single-use refill (initial quantity of composition less than 4 g), the best stability of distribution of the applicator member, whatever the duration of storage (between 0 and 2 months ) and the temperature (between room temperature and 45 ° C), is obtained with an applicator whose application surface is occupied by the composition at least 90%, distributed continuously.
It has also been observed that, for a multi-use refill (initial quantity of composition greater than 4 g), the best stability of distribution of the applicator member, whatever the duration of storage (between 0 and 2 month) and the temperature (between room temperature and 45 ° C), is obtained with an applicator whose application surface is occupied by the composition to less than 90%, distributed discontinuously.
The invention is not limited to the examples which have just been described.
The invention thus also relates to a ready-to-assemble assembly 200 as illustrated diagrammatically in FIG. 11. This ready-to-assemble assembly 200 comprises a hair treatment device 1, and a cosmetic article 202. This article comprises a cosmetic composition refill 20 in a closed packaging 204 to prevent in particular that the cosmetic composition does not evaporate from the applicator member. As a variant, the packaging 204 may include several refills of cosmetic composition 20. In this case, it is preferred that the packaging can be closed, so as not to dry out the other refills of cosmetic composition when a refill is removed from the packaging. . As a variant, in this case, each individual refill is kept in an individual package, inside a package common to the multiple refills.
